Ivory, height: 14,4 cm, 154 g
Beautiful ivory sculpture portraying Saint Jeremiah, one of the four great prophets of Israel with Isaiah, Ezekiel and Daniel. He is distinguished among the prophets by his elderly appearance and his beard. His iconographic attributes are a book and an iron stick or a boiling pot, a symbol of imminent misfortunes. In the case of this sculpture, the right arm was hinged to the main figure and has been lost. The Saint rests erect on a modeled plinth in the center of which there is a vegetal motif with evident traces of gilding.
THE SCULPTURE IS EQUIPPED WITH A CITES CERTIFICATE (IT/CE/2023/FO/00053)
The sculpture was made of ivory before 1947 (pre-Washington Convention), but CANNOT BE SHIPPED TO NON-EU COUNTRIES.
