End of the 18th century.
Width: 164cm. Depth: 66 cm. Height: 82cm.
Center chair desk in lacquered and painted soft wood. Louis XVI era and style. Production center: Romagna. Period, end of the 18th century.
The bottom of the cabinet is lacquered in two shades of green, separated by Pompeian red frames and threads. The pictorial decoration is completed with thin dark blue geometric threads and clypei composed of laurel leaves which enclose cameos depicting, in a quick and concise style, male and female busts inspired by Roman imperial art. Furthermore, all the uprights of the furniture are embellished with a pictorial palmette ornament, which unfolds on the surface of the desk without interruption. The guide that supports the central drawer slides out of its seat and contains two secret compartments (see photo). The lacquering and painting that enrich the furniture are completely original. As evidence of this, I attach some photos that show some phases of cleaning the piece of furniture, which, at the time of purchase, was entirely covered in a thick layer of enamel paint, applied during the 20th century. The state of conservation is good. There are some abrasions in the lacquering, especially in the "pallette" decoration.
Provenance: Solarolo (RA), Private Collection.
Certification of authenticity and lawful origin of the furniture is issued in accordance with the law.
