Description

Pair of Venetian carved walnut armchairs. Venice, mid-18th century.

The two armchairs, dating to the 1740s, are crafted from carved walnut in the Venetian Rococo style of the period. The frame features a contoured backrest with a carved shell motif, curved upholstered armrests, and a wide seat on cabriole legs. The carving, distributed across the cylindrical frame, crosspieces, and legs, reflects the refined Venetian cabinetmaking of the period.
