Pair of bronze vases with oxblood painted bottom. The two potiches have relief gold scroll decorations on their surface, while the front of both are decorated with two oval reserve medallions, depicting two savory and refined "Watteau-style" gallant scenes, hand-painted and signed "MAXANT". The bodies are baluster-shaped, while the twin golden metal handles are shaped like vegetal scrolls. Both lid sockets, equally in golden metal, are shaped like a pine cone. France, late 19th century. Excellent state of conservation.
