Description

Made of teak wood, coming from Tanjore in South India and dating back to the 19th century, the prancing horse is of great realism and vigor, the ears projected forward are tense in an alert attitude, the rump is covered with a saddle, the neck is adorned with caparisons and necklaces, the muzzle of a halter.

In the Indian tradition, the depiction of the horse is extremely present and is often associated with fire, wind, virility, fertility and the close relationship between the human and the divine, becoming itself the protagonist of Hindu worship and ritual. Furthermore, it is the natural symbol of power and war.

The magnificent and mammoth sculpture is equipped with a support.
