(brand from 1953/1954 published in the Rosenthal – Dieter Struss volume)
German animalier artist, painter, designer and sculptor active in Munich near Nymphenbourg and Allach until 1918, subsequently appointed artistic director at Rosenthal Selb and Bahnhof-Selb solely for the animalier sculpture department, remaining until 1966, the year of his death. Throughout his career he received numerous awards and appreciation for the originality of his works, the result of numerous studies from life as a careful observer and enthusiast of the animal kingdom. His sketchbooks and sketches are still preserved in the Rosenthal department. His porcelains are coveted by numerous collectors today.
The smooth-coated Fox Terrier represents one of the two variants of this breed, a dog with an energetic, lively, stubborn and courageous temperament, dating back to the end of the Middle Ages, selected in Great Britain for hunting foxes or wild burrowing animals, thanks to its athletic and intellectual skills.
The breed standard was officially established in 1876. The size and sociable character with people also make it a good companion dog, always remembering its needs and predatory instinct which lead it to be very active. It is a dog that is often seen in the equestrian world, in fact in the stable it can prove to be a formidable hunter of mice.
