Description: Imposing three-drawer crossbow chest of drawers from Lucca in walnut, early 19th century.
The main façade is designed by three large drawers arranged on three tracks of which the highest is slightly less capacious, all marked by a double and thin round of maple wood fillet. Notched uprights with raised apexes and feral protome endings on all four feet, stylistic features that allow us to ascribe the piece of furniture to the cabinet-making of the first Empire in Lucca.
The installation of the briar arranged "at the head" on the band subtending the top is painstaking, as is the meticulous work of the craftsman who sculpted and engraved the lion-shaped feet in the solid wood. An important accent is given to the refined arrangement of the walnut root which takes center stage almost covering the scansion of the three drawers and giving the front of the dresser dignified elegance.
