The painting depicts the bust of a young woman in a three-quarter pose, gazing upward. Her brown hair is adorned with a crown of leaves in accordance with classical iconography. Her dress features light-colored drapes over a dark red cloak. The rendering of the flesh, the warm chiaroscuro against the dark background, and the compositional typology are directly reminiscent of Jean-Baptiste Greuze, the author of numerous similar compositions, including the Head of a Young Girl preserved at Waddesdon Manor.

Condition report: Lined canvas. The painted surface is in good condition, with widespread traces of old restorations and oxidation of the varnish.
