Pair of antique Napoleon III gilt bronze candelabra/flambeaux signed “H. Picard”. France, 19th century.

Pair of gilded bronze candelabra/flambeaux belonging to the Napoleon III period of the second half of the nineteenth century.

The structure develops on four flames in total, including three curved arms that branch off from the central shaft and one in the centre.

The shaft rests on a tripod element decorated with festoons of leaves while the middle section is supported by a sculptural group composed of three leaning caryatids or nymphs.

The profile of the base is mixtilinear with protruding corners enriched by spindle mouldings and resting on small cushion feet.
