Entirely veneered in violet ebony in a herringbone pattern, following a typical Sicilian cabinetmaking technique of the late 18th century. The open compartment, complete with an internal shelf, is topped by a veined gray marble top, a feature that emphasizes its function as a bedside table. The tapered legs, with a turned baluster connection, lend a sense of sleekness and visual lightness to the ensemble. The simple brass handles complete the decorative effect. This pair reflects the typical characteristics of cabinetmaking in the Palermo area, prized for the quality of the veneer and the balance of its proportions.
