A pair of elegant carved and gilded wood torch holders. Italy, Charles X era.

A pair of elegant carved wooden torch holders gilded with pure gold leaf. Northern Italy, Charles X era, first quarter of the 19th century. Excellent condition. This is an important pair of torch holders, originally intended for liturgical use and recently reinterpreted as table lamps. The slender baluster-shaped body of each torch holder rises from a square base, supported by four feline feet. The torch holders are richly decorated with neoclassical-style ornaments (laurel leaves, draperies centered by clipei, beading), their importance highlighted by splendid gilding.

The lampshades, made recently, are in cream-colored fabric with a gold trimming profile.

The electrical system is working properly. It is recommended that the vehicle be inspected in accordance with the regulations of the country of destination.

A scenic pair, ideal for enhancing classic spaces, entrances or consoles.
