Description

Pair of polychrome porcelain incense burners. Capodimonte manufacture, 19th century.

23 x 16 xh 40 cm each.

Made entirely of painted and gilded porcelain, the two pieces feature a perforated lid surmounted by a seated cherub, a ribbed body decorated with gilded rosettes and hand-painted floral motifs on a blue-white background, with high-relief floral garlands and pairs of cherubs attached to the sides. The base features mixtilinear volutes. The perforated lid, typical of incense burners, allowed the aromatic essences to be diffused. Marked under the base.
