Original oil on canvas animalier painting (applied on panel) depicting a bay horse - Bay Hunter, it looks like a sketch - study. The painting is anonymous but of quality, the artist knows perfectly the equine anatomical aspect as well as the expressiveness. The brushstrokes are vibrant with a palette characterized by warm, bright colors. The rendering of the bay coat is perfect and the execution very particular. The animal artists often went to the stables and spent several hours in the box observing and studying their favorite subjects to create some sketches, which were subsequently selected in the studio. The neutral background of this small painting makes us understand that the animal is decontextualized and therefore not portrayed in plein air or inserted into a landscape. The horse, considered a noble and elegant animal, was one of the favorite subjects of artists and much sought after by the High Society clients of the time. To decipher the breeds or aptitudes it is enough to observe the pose, the attitude of the neck, the physical plasticity and the tail and mane groomed as was appropriate for horses intended for fox hunting or light shooting. The work is in a good state of conservation, it has already been viewed by a professional restoration studio which has verified its integrity and does not require further maintenance, the frame is contemporary. Accompanied by certificate of authenticity.
