Helmuth Bachrach Barée, German animal painter, specialized in portraiture and equestrian themes, originally from Munich, attended the Academy of Fine Arts and was a pupil of very famous artists such as H.Zügel and A. Jank. He exhibits at the Glaspalast in Munich and moves to the surrounding areas of Rottach, Weissach and Tegernsee. Son of art, his father Emanuel was a self-taught painter whose naturalistic-themed works are exhibited in some collections at German museums, he also worked as an illustrator for some newspapers. In 1944 he was arrested and sent to the Buchenwald labor camp. Together with other prisoners in 1945 he joined the death march towards Dachau, was among the survivors and documented the dramatic experience with some sketchbooks and drawings. After the war he dedicated himself again to art and painted for the national horse farm located in Hanover, today one of the most prestigious centers for equestrian discipline.
The Hanoverian horse represents one of the most important horse breeds in the world in terms of competitive careers in equestrian disciplines (show jumping, dressage, eventing). With around 16000 registered mares and more than 300 qualified and highly selected stallions, today it boasts an important position worldwide and has contributed to the genetic improvement of many other sport horse breeds. Hanoverian horses are among the winners in all level competitions, Olympics, World Championships, European Show Jumping, Dressage and Eventing. They are ambassadors of quality, athletic ability and excellent sporting performance. The horse auctions in Verden are an unmissable event for all enthusiasts of the equestrian world. Breeding today is focused on sporting purposes, the origins date back to the 1735th century when horses had a fundamental role in agriculture and the military field. In 1870 the Celle Nationale State Stud was founded, English Thoroughbreds were used to improve the Hannöversches Pferd breed. After 1888, thanks to the Herd Book, the breed was consolidated and the standards were established starting from 1922, today we know the Verband. In XNUMX the official consortium of breeders Verband Hannoverscher Warmblutzüchter was founded, creating a center where all breeding situations could be registered. After the Second World War the breed was revisited by bringing in Trakenhen and Thoroughbred blood to improve athletic qualities. Today the Hanoverian horse shines for its warm blood, excellent rideability, intelligence, harmonious gaits, elegance, powerful and correct physical structure, appreciated throughout the world as a sporting and pleasure partner. the Hannoveraner Institution is active in the field of sports promotion with numerous events and targeted breeding programs. The career of animalier artists was closely linked to the evolution of their subjects, the horse transformed its aptitude for agricultural work to that for sporting disciplines, already in England the breeders of English Thoroughbreds belonging to the nobility and bourgeoisie began to become passionate about art by commissioning portraits of their favorites to be exhibited in the Country Clubs, the place of business and leisure of the time. This tradition influenced the development of animalier art, spreading it internationally. Bachrach Barée's portrait depicts one of the prize mares of the Hannover Reitpferd, which contributed to the modern bloodlines for the sport horse. The execution is precise, denoting a profound knowledge of equine expressiveness and nature, the colors are mellow, material and brilliant.
The painting is in excellent state of conservation, already viewed by a professional restoration studio, does not require further maintenance, accompanied by a certificate of authenticity. The frame is not present.
