Willy Lorenz is a German Animalier painter active in Germany in the 20th century. Inserted in the academic tradition, he frequents Cologne, Berlin and Dusseldorf, he turns to the figurative, dedicating himself to the representation of native wild animals such as foxes, ducks, pheasants, deer, roe deer, wild boars and other subjects such as big cats, all inserted in their habitat excluding human presence. His poetics enhance the naturalistic idea, an artist appreciated and shared in various collections at European level.
The Siberian Tiger (Panthera Tigris altaica) belongs to the family of big cats, characterized by a lighter coat but similar in size to that of the Bengal. It lives in a limited territory in the south-eastern part of Siberia, accustomed to very harsh climates, in the taiga it is a very effective predator, it feeds on wild boars, Sika deer, goral, hares and salmon. Characteristically it is a solitary, noble animal, with a proud bearing, however it remains very suspicious and is difficult to see. It is also called the Amur Tiger, today considered in danger of extinction with a population of a few hundred specimens, the main factors that have led at this risk are deforestation and poaching for the beauty and rarity of the coat.
There are many projects by various animal rights associations to ensure the protection and reintegration of this wonderful animal.
