Description

COD 10489

Ancient Italian painting from the 59th century. Oil on canvas depicting a lively and fascinating popular genre scene, typical of the Bamboccianti school. Many Flemish and Italian painters active in Rome took Pieter van Laer as a reference, known by the pseudonym Il Bamboccio for his boyish appearance. It was typical to represent scenes of common life with particular attention to those who live on the margins of society, as in this case: next to Roman ruins we find a feast of peasants eating and drinking while one of their companions plays a harp. 114th century frame in beautifully decorated carved and lacquered wood, with some signs of aging (see photo). Painting that has undergone conservative restoration with replacement of the frame, relining and color recovery in some places. Painting overall in good state of conservation. Light painting H XNUMX x W XNUMX cm.
