Nowarc is pleased to relaunch a news sent to us by Studiolo Fine Art - Milan:
«The seventh volume of the series is being prepared Echoes from the twentieth century, dedicated to Rino Gaspare Battaini (Milan, 1892 – Rapallo, 1960), excellent executor of still lifes, often compared to the Magical Realism of Massimo Bontempelli more for stylistic characteristics than for ascertained historical veracity.
Say he is known for his presence at the front in the Volunteer Cyclist Battalion alongside Bucci, Marinetti, Funi, Sant'Elia, Russolo, Boccioni, Sironi ed Erba and a handful of exhibitions, among which the presence at the I Italian Twentieth Century Exhibition (with an excellent figurative work – The Dolly duo) and a nice staff at Scopinich Gallery of December 1932, after which he controversially abandoned painting for about ten years.
His still lifes reach a you treat staggering levels of quality, placing it among the most incomprehensibly neglected artists of the Italian twentieth century.
The volume attempts to reconstruct his artistic history, currently grouping together around fifty works that have appeared in catalogs or on the art market over the years.
