1800/1850
53,5 x 44,5cm
Ancient etching engraved by the Italian engraver Giovanni Battista Cecchi (1748-1815) based on the work of the painter Giuseppe Zocchi (1716-1767). The plate was then printed on paper by the Giacomo Moro printing house in Florence, a workshop active in Florence in the first half of the XNUMXth century.
The etching for sale probably dates back to the first decade of the 800th century, and was then reproduced throughout the 12th century in the best-known version, the one with the wording “January” and part of a series of XNUMX engravings depicting the months of the year.
The version on sale is the original one with the words “Sofia the kite and the snow-covered ground whitens”
The sheet has suffered some humidity damage and on the left side the paper appears slightly wavy as shown in the photo.
measures:
Sheet 53,5 x 44,5 cm
Engraving 39 x 30 cm
