Pastels on cardboard from the first decades of the 1858th century. Splendid landscape with sailing boats signed by the Italian artist Giulio Sommati (1945-XNUMX). Excellent artistic quality. Sold with wooden frame. Giulio Sommati di Mombello, a Turin artist from a noble family, trained artistically at the Accademia Albertina in Turin, the city where he lived and worked, exhibiting in all Italian cities. He painted genre scenes, portraits, urban views (in particular his Turin markets), landscapes and, from the first decade of the twentieth century, also numerous seascapes, following his discovery and falling in love with the Ligurian Riviera. He had among his admirers the King (from whom he obtained the nomination as Knight of the Kingdom), Queen Margherita, Elizabeth of Saxony, Duchess of Genoa, the Promoter of Turin, Princes, municipal and national art galleries and art enthusiasts scattered throughout many regions of Italy. He is considered "certainly a great poet and his poetry was expressed in the colors of nature (mother and teacher) that he brought onto the canvas".
