This antique Italian Baroque chest of drawers from the second half of the 17th century, in the Louis XIV era, is an extraordinary example of fine cabinetmaking. Coming from the renowned cabinetmaking workshops of Northern Italy, this piece displays the elegance and refinement typical of the Baroque era.
Crafted from fine light walnut, the chest of drawers is embellished with intricate marquetry on each side, embodying the quintessential Baroque aesthetic with its flowing lines, curls and scrolls. The striking contrast provided by the black ebonized wood frames serves to accentuate the beauty of the marquetry, creating a visually striking piece.
With a generous capacity, it features four large drawers, the first of which opens with a flap to reveal a convenient writing surface, ideal for taking quick notes or reviewing documents. Inside this drawer, five smaller compartments provide additional space for small items.
In excellent condition, this chest of drawers retains all its original features, including handles, locks and nails, accompanied by a single key. The interiors of the three main drawers are lined with an elegant yellow fabric, which may show slight signs of wear, but can easily be replaced to suit your preferences.
This impressive chest of drawers is not just a piece of furniture, but a work of art that is sure to become a conversation piece and focal point in any room.
