MIGUEL BERROCAL, Micro – Multiples Series, chromed metal sculptures

Group of four chromed metal sculptures composed of removable elements from the “Micro – Multiples” series by Miguel Berrocal (1933-2006) plus a jewel/sculpture in bronze and steel for Saint-Vincent, produced in a limited edition between 1967 and 1970.

All works have engraved signature and numbers.

Miguel Berrocal (Villanueva de Algaidas, 28 September 1933 – Antequera, 31 May 2006) was a Spanish sculptor and artist also known as the puzzle sculptor, due to the particularity of his sculptures.

Since his youth he has been interested in a system of dismantling and combinatorial sculpture that characterizes all of his later sculptural work. In it there is a constant search for new concepts and unknown spaces within it, allowing the viewer to penetrate the world of construction and deconstruction. Berrocal's work disrupts the traditional notion of sculpture, surpassing the contemporary concept. His removable sculpture allows the intrusion of the internal form on the outside, the sculpture is made from within and from within; for the first time the sculpture strips itself of its surface to reveal its most hidden part to us.
