We present this fantastic oil painting on plywood dating back to the early decades of the 20th century. The painting bears the signature A. Scocchera in the lower left corner (see photo). Attributable to the Italian painter Alfredo Scocchera (Baselice, 1887 – Milan, January 25, 1955), the painting has no authentication.
This stunning painting captures a serene Italian mountain valley, highlighting the artist's profound sensitivity to the beauty of nature and everyday life. In the foreground on the right, a woman busily washes clothes in an old washhouse, embodying the simplicity and dignity of rural life. On the left, amidst lush vegetation, stands a picturesque stone cabin, while farm animals, chickens, and cows graze peacefully in the verdant meadow. The background is crowned by majestic snow-capped peaks meeting a clear blue sky, emphasizing the grandeur of the landscape. The artist uses bold, textural brushstrokes and vibrant colors to give the scene a sense of volume and life, inviting viewers to immerse themselves in the tranquility and authenticity of mountain life. The painting is elegantly framed in a gold frame, enhancing its beauty.
