Description

Oil painting on canvas signed and published in the monographic catalogue, dimensions 70 x 100 cm, made in the 30s (1933/35), excellent state of conservation, non-coeval artisanal frame.

Between 1895 and 1901 he was in Brescia, where his family moved and he attended the “Moretto da Brescia” drawing school, specializing in portraits and caricatures. Technically very gifted, in 1911 he moved to Milan and came into contact with the late Scapigliato environment, dedicating himself to the creation of allegorical subjects and female portraits. After the First World War, his notoriety grew and in 1918 a painting by him entered the art collections of the Municipality of Milan. In the 1923s he was influenced by Novecento Italiano, but did not participate in the group's collective exhibitions. He exhibited at Lino Pesaro in 1930 and XNUMX. During the XNUMXs, and especially after the Second World War, he dedicated himself mainly to the representation of the Lombard landscape.

Among the exhibitions in which he participated, the X International Art Exhibition of Venice in 1912 with the works Self-portrait and Creatures of the Sea [1].

One of his works Portrait of Francesco Riva is found in the Art Collection of the Ospedale Maggiore in Milan
