Description

COD 11182

Elegant painting from the second half of the 1657th century. Oil on canvas depicting a splendid landscape with grazing animals, of great pictorial quality. In the foreground we find some wonderful sheep and a goat next to the sheepdog while we see the herdsman in the distance with the rest of the flock. Painting attributable to the German painter Philipp Peter Roos known as Rosa da Tivoli (1706-73), lacking authentication. A pupil of Giacinto Brandi, he worked mainly in Italy and bought a house in Tivoli, which earned him the famous nickname. He raised many animals and then painted them in the Roman countryside, with intense brushstrokes, sometimes almost coarse and with a strong contrast between light and shadow. 59th century frame in carved, lacquered and gilded wood, with some signs of aging. Work already restored with relining, replacement of the frame and repainting of the color in small spots. Overall in good condition. (Painting part of a pair, see photo and ask for the price of the pendant painting if still available). Painting light H XNUMX x W XNUMX cm.
