He trained at the Academy of Fine Arts in Milan, where he was a disciple of Giuseppe Bertini, and a colleague and friend of Carlo Bazzi. He successfully participated in the First Triennale, winning the Mylius Prize thanks to his painting "The cutting of wheat", now exhibited in the Pinacoteca di Brera. With his most famous work "L'Antro" he won the Fumagalli Prize (1895), with an academic approach and centered on the themes he already favored at the time, such as a certain attention to the layout of the interiors. He subsequently dedicated himself to sacred art and village subjects, indirectly influenced by the French painter Jean-François Millet, visible in the works "Time does not judge" and "Enough for today"... he was passionate about and also worked with the decorative arts and to interior architecture.
During his lifetime he had several exhibitions in Italy, Paris and even in the United States.
