Description

Rare chest of drawers with raised part veneered in precious woods and ebonized wood. Lombard-Venetian, Louis XIV period.

The piece of furniture is made up of three overlapping parts (chest of drawers, compartment with a drop-leaf, mirrored riser). The strong architectural structure of the furniture, still in seventeenth-century style and partly inspired by Roman Baroque furniture (just look at the massive twisted columns that mark the lower part) is lightened by walnut wood borders within double boxwood fillets, which in turn subtend olive wood inserts mounted horizontally. Furthermore, the furniture is equipped with a myriad of drawers and secret compartments, some of which are shown in the photos. The back and bottoms of the drawers are made of solid fir. Original and contemporary handles and locks. Mercury mirrors. Good state of conservation.

Provenance: Fiesole (FI), Private Collection.

A certification is issued in accordance with the law regarding the authenticity and lawful origin of the furniture.
