Description

We are pleased to present this 18th-century Italian school oil on canvas. A splendid religious painting that sensitively depicts the Holy Family. The Holy Family was a very common depiction in Italian religious art of the Baroque and late Baroque periods. In this painting, the composition is very typical: the Virgin Mary in the foreground holds the baby Jesus in her arms, while Joseph contemplates the scene to her left. In the background to the right, an ox can be glimpsed. The painting is of excellent artistic quality, evident in the proportions, the attention to detail, and the use of typically Baroque light, which diffusely illuminates Jesus and Mary (the painting's protagonists). Another significant detail is the gaze: the faces and gazes of Mary and Jesus are serenely turned toward the sky, a symbol of a profound connection with God and a gentle acceptance of His will. This is a marvelous painting for its pictorial quality and profound religious message. If you love ancient Italian religious art, you absolutely must add this splendid painting to your collection. The painting is sold as pictured, without a traditional frame. It features a simple wooden frame and a hook on the back for hanging. The painting has undergone a good quality restoration, with some retouching and relining. Frame dimensions (cm): Height: 80,5 Width: 59,5 Depth: 2,5 Painting width (cm): Height: 79,5 Width: 58
