Description

Ancient Neoclassical alabaster sculpture depicting Paolina Buonaparte, dating back to the 19th century.

The figure of Paolina features an uncovered bust while the lower part of her body is wrapped in finely worked drapery characterised by deep, regular folds that follow the anatomical shape of her legs.

The composition is developed horizontally with the weight of the figure distributed on the left side.

The left arm is bent and supports the head in an attitude of rest while the right arm is stretched along the body with the hand resting on the thigh and holding the apple in its hand.

The triclinium is decorated with a fringed drapery and rests on four pyramidal feet adorned with acanthus leaves.

Conditions: Excellent condition.

Provenance: 19th century France.
