Bronze sculpture with black marble base depicting Perseus with the head of Medusa, part of the famous Clot Collection, modeled by Salvador Dalì in his home in Port Lligat between 1969 and 1979 for his Catalan friend and collector Isidro Clot. The bronze is numbered 98/350 and bears the sculptor's signature.
The Gala-Dalì foundation has granted the official rights for the fusion of these 44 works to the publisher 2049 Obra Contemporanea, and all the pieces, limited in number to 350, are accompanied by a certificate of authenticity.
The figure of Dalì is a tribute to the statue of Perseus by Benvenuto Cellini, created for Cosimo I de Medici in 1545 and still in the Loggia dei Lanzi, in Piazza della Signoria in Florence. Dalì's attraction for the Florentine artist derived from the latter's extreme versatility, in which the Spaniard recognized himself.
