Still life with a basket of flowers
Oil on canvas, 29,4 x 39,7 cm
The painting in question, comparable to the production of the German-French school of the 18th century, depicts a refined and elegant still life. Various types of flowers are placed on a small wicker basket with harmonious, curved weaves.
Thanks to the painter's careful and meticulous description, each floral species is perfectly recognizable: a red poppy, detailed with both its delicate, deciduous petals and black stamens, immediately catches our attention, as do the jagged petals of the two roses, whose leaves and stems, covered with thin, pointed thorns, are discernible. The small display of flowers also includes violets, chrysanthemums, dahlias, small rubiaceae flowers, and lilies.
