XVIII (or ant.)
Italian 17, ISO 57 (18,15 mm)
Signet ring with 22 carat gold setting and oval-shaped antique onyx bezel hand-carved from solid to obtain an auspicious epigraphy in Kufic script. The frame is refined, recently made, but in an archaic style.
Traditionally, the engraved invocations took on talismanic value and if worn they acted as a real amulet.
Since the early years of the last century, many talismanic stone jewels have been engraved using corrosive acids which allowed quicker and easier creation.
Ring size: Italian 17, ISO 57 (18,15 mm); gross weight gr. 7,870; stone weight gr. 0.560.
Stone dimensions: 10 x 9 mm.
