Description

CODE 11169/2

Italian painting from the first half of the 1518th century. Oil on panel work of remarkable pictorial quality depicting a mythological scene of great charm. We find the iconographic prototype of Apollo dancing with the Muses that Baldassarre Peruzzi created for the Palatine Gallery of Palazzo Pitti in Florence in 35. At the center of the composition we see Apollo, the God of music and the arts, surrounded by the nine Muses, each symbol of a particular discipline. The figures dance on a wonderful gold background that enhances the light and bright colors of the floating tunics. We then find in the lower part some scrolls with the names of the Muses written in Greek characters. Scenic contemporary frame in wood and gilded plaster, with small missing parts (see photo). Work that has some color losses, overall in good state of conservation. Painting part of a pair, see photo and ask for the price of the pendant of paintings if still available. Painting light H 78 x W XNUMX cm.
