A large writing table entirely made of carved, lacquered, and painted wood. The frame features tapered square legs decorated with gilded leaf motifs; the perimeter frieze is adorned with a row of carved and gilded ovals and rosettes, all lacquered in a cream color. The sizable top is entirely painted with a black background and features plant motifs, exotic birds, and polychrome swirls simulating scagliola, a decorative style rooted in Tuscan and Roman tradition.

Condition report: Some localized losses and defects on the painted surface of the top; the structure is in good overall condition.
