Night seascape made with charcoal and pastel on paper. Autographed work by the painter and engraver from Ravenna Vittorio Guaccimanni.
Born in 1859 in Ravenna, he attended the city's Academy of Fine Arts led by Arturo Moradei.
He took part in the International Exhibition of Paris in 1900, in that of Vienna in 1901 and in Buenos Aires in 1910, the most important exhibitions of his time.
He became a master in the art of etching, and is best known for his depictions of battles and horses.
He directed the Royal School of Applied Art in Industry in Venice and then became director of the Academy of Fine Arts in Ravenna.
His works are held in museums and private collections throughout the world.
The charcoal for sale, made on grey paper, is particular for its representation, uncommon for the artist, of a night seascape.
The work is autographed on the lower left and is sold with a frame.
