The conductor monkey rests on a rocaille plinth with four other musicians. Heights from 16.5 to 13
These sculptures belong to the series of the very famous and beloved monkey orchestra, consisting of 22 figurines, which Johann Joachim Kaendler first modeled in 1753 at the height of his artistic creativity. It was precisely at Christmas of that year that the Marquise Madame Pompadour, known for her refinement and great taste, purchased nineteen figurines of this set from a Paris merchant.
This concert was immediately so successful that Kaendler himself in the years 1765 and 1766, with the help of his collaborator Peter Reinicke, reworked the models of the various musical monkeys
