Last quarter of the 18th century.
Measurement of each bookcase: width 100 cm.; depth 32 cm., height 96 cm.
Pair of small bookcases from the Louis XVI period and style. Bologna, last quarter of the 18th century. The front of the furniture, valuable and rare due to its small size, is entirely veneered in walnut essence mounted in a herringbone pattern and "upright", embellished with thin boxwood threads. The sides are also veneered in walnut wood mounted in a herringbone pattern and framed by a double thread in ebony and boxwood. The tops, contemporary with the furnishings, are in marble, inserted within a palmette frame in neoclassical style golden sheet metal. The structure and internal linings are in poplar. The supports, in the shape of an inverted obelisk with a constriction, end with turned elements in the shape of an elongated pear. Originally, the doors were probably closed by a fabric weave, a weave that could today be replaced, depending on the tastes of the potential buyer, either by glass or by a metal mesh trellis. Good state of conservation.
Provenance: Bologna, Private Collection.
Certification of authenticity and lawful origin of the furnishings is issued in accordance with the law.
