Description

Lacquered and painted parade bench on solid fir wood. Emilia, Louis XIV era.

Parade bench with markedly shaped back and front of the seat, decorated with architectural scrolls that frame a noble coat of arms on the backrest, with a strong horizontal development. The lower part of the piece of furniture is characterized by a central cartouche, still rendered with the scroll decoration. Both the wooden structure and the painted decorative part are completely original, just as the irons that join the two parts that make up the bench are original and contemporary. Scenographic and decorative furnishings intended for large spaces, notable entrance hall chests like the one in question are examples of a production that is persistently influenced by the splendor of the celebratory Baroque of the late seventeenth-early eighteenth century.

Provenance: Ferrara, Private Collection.

Certification of authenticity and lawful origin of the furniture is issued in accordance with the law.
