Pair of large watercolors by the Victorian artist Henry Stanton Lynton (1886-1912) renowned for his skillful Orientalist works. Both have an expansive landscape format and depict nomads and camel caravans in a Middle Eastern desert. In the background you can see oases and ancient ruins from the classical era.
The color palette has shades of earth and ocher with more lively chromatic highlights for the vegetation of the palm trees and the clothes of the caravaners.
Each painting is signed.
Lynton specialized in watercolor and oil painting, traveled extensively and produced many of his works in Europe and the Middle East.
