French wooden sculpture from the mid-19th century. Work carved in pear wood (dark mahogany-coloured patination) depicting a religious subject, the Madonna, of good quality. Sculpture of beautiful size and impact, ideal for displaying on a column, chest of drawers or large desk. Work with the missing right hand and small signs of aging (see photo). Eyes of the Virgin in stained glass (see photo). Under the base there are small holes (see photo) to fix the work to a base, now absent. In beautiful patina and structurally sound, in good state of conservation.
