Italian artist colored pastels on paper, “horses”. Signed on the front by Francesco Gonzaga, an important Italian artist.
Giovan Francesco Gonzaga (Milan 1921 – 2007) descends from the Gonzaga family of Mantua. His noble origins can be found in all of his artistic production. Gonzaga's favorite subjects are in fact horses, knights and soldiers, as well as landscapes, portraits and still lifes. He studied Leonardo and Michelangelo by attending the Sforzesco Castle and at the age of 20 he left for the Russian Campaign with the Savoy Cavalry. This experience remains strongly imprinted in the artist's mind, influencing his production; his inseparable horse will in fact be the protagonist of countless paintings, sculptures and poems. To create his works he uses classic techniques: oil, tempera, pencil and watercolour. He dedicates his life to painting and illustrates some literary works including "The Odyssey", "Heart Book" and "Moses".. We advise you to look carefully at all the attached photos in detail. Offered at a negotiable price, we invite you to send us your purchase proposals, we will evaluate them with pleasure.
