Ancient alabaster sculptural group belonging to the Napoleon III period of the second half of the nineteenth century.

The work shows two finely draped figures in an affectionate gesture positioned on a rocky base.

The adult female figure acts as the visual and structural fulcrum while the young girl leans on her right side creating a sinuous line that guides the viewer's eye from bottom to top.

The main figure wears a classically inspired tunic (chiton) tight under the chest while with her left hand she lifts the hem of the skirt with a graceful gesture, revealing her advanced left foot.

The face is idealized with symmetrical and serene features framed by hair gathered with a ribbon at the nape of the neck.

The secondary figure is captured in a dynamic pose of affectionate abandonment towards the maternal figure and is partially surrounded by a thin drape.
