First half of the 18th century.
Width: 66 cm.; depth: 44 cm; height: 93 cm.
Small chest of drawers with four drawers veneered in walnut and olive wood with maple inlays. Romagna, Louis XIV era and style, first half of the 18th century.
The small-sized cabinet is characterized by beautiful inlaid panels that unfold across the entire surface of the furniture and punctuate its volumes. The inlays, of a phytomorphic taste and made of maple essence, are framed by thin mixed-line threads in the same essence and create a beautiful chromatic contrast with the base wood, in olive briar. The remaining parts are veneered in walnut and walnut feather. The finely molded drawer frames, as well as the base cornice and bracket-shaped supports, are made of ebonized fruit wood. Structure, interior and backrest in poplar wood. The base drawer contains a removable shelf, used as a kneeler. The brass knobs are original and coeval with the furniture's era.
The chest of drawers is in an excellent state of preservation, having already undergone both a state-of-the-art restoration with a shellac finish and an anti-woodworm treatment.
Provenance: Imola, Private Collection.
