Description

COD 10999

Large Flemish painting from the 1579th century. Oil on canvas depicting a copy of the famous still life by Frans Snyders (1657-107,5), a dog defending the carcass from two other dogs. Originally from Antwerp, he dedicated himself to painting flowers, plants and fruit but later preferred to paint with animals and hunting scenes and became one of the first animal painters of the Flemish school. A painting of great pictorial quality, the realism with which the animals and other naturalistic details have been reproduced is notable. Painting that develops horizontally, of beautiful size and strong visual impact, adorned with a carved and gilded (bronze colored) wooden and plaster frame. Ancient frame, not contemporary, which has small lacks of decoration and various signs of aging (see photo). Painting that has undergone conservative restoration, relining, replacement of the frame and color recovery in some small spots. On the back there is a reference to the Flemish painter Pieter Boel (see photo). Overall, the painting is in a good state of conservation. Light painting H 166 x W XNUMX cm.
