Lenci ceramics are one of the most famous brands in the field of 1919th century Italian artistic ceramics. Their story begins in XNUMX in Turin, when Elena Konig Scavini, a Swiss sculptor, decided to open a workshop for the production of artistic ceramics.

The name “Lenci” derives from the first letters of the names of Elena's children: Ludovico, ENrica, CItta. Initially, the company focused on the production of porcelain dolls, but soon became known for its innovative and vibrant ceramics.

Lenci ceramics are characterized by a distinctive style, which combines elegance and liveliness. The sculptures and figurines created by Lenci are often portraits of elegant women with expressive faces and colorful clothes. The ceramics are famous for their intricate details, precision of facial features and use of bright colors.

On 23 June 2023, a permanent section dedicated to the collection of Lenci ceramics was inaugurated on the third floor of the Sabauda Gallery in the Royal Museums. This collection was donated by the Turin couple Giuseppe and Gabriella Ferrero, passionate collectors who have dedicated themselves to different forms of art, from ancient to modern and contemporary. The donation includes 132 ceramics made by various artists, including Mario Sturani, Giovanni Grande, Gigi Chessa, Sandro Vacchetti, Giuseppe Porcheddu, Elena König Scavini, Giovanni Grande, Ines Grande, Giovanni Riva, Felice Tosalli, Claudia Formica, Massimo Quaglino, Abele Jacopi, Teonesto Deabate, Giulio Da Milano, Paola Bologna, Nillo Beltrami, Bona Sancipriano Di Baviera.

This precious collection testifies to the importance and influence of Lenci ceramics in Italian art and culture. Visitors to the Sabauda Gallery will be able to admire original works of great artistic and historical value, which represent the skill and creativity of the artists who worked for the Lenci factory.

This inauguration once again confirms the prestige and recognisability of Lenci ceramics, not only as collector's items, but also as testimonies of an important Italian artistic tradition.
